Organizers working ahead of Boston’s hosting role for the FIFA World Cup 26 have joined with Berklee College of Music to develop a remix of the tournament theme to reflect local music.
Boston was the only host city to partner with a college or university to create its unique soundscape, said Julie Duffy, Chief Marketing Director for FIFA World Cup 26 Boston.
So who will soccer fans around the world hear?
“It is important that this sound represents the community – everyone in the community,” said Ben Zakharenko, a Berklee student working on the project. “We incorporated not just Boston’s Celtic origins and revolutionary spirit, but also its 80s beats, and found inspiration from local music legends including Aerosmith, New Kids on the Block, the Dropkick Murphys, and Boston Symphony Orchestra.”
You can find Boston’s host city theme on Spotify and other music streaming apps and follow the latest on the Hub’s host city plans at https://bostonfwc26.com/.
Gas at 3-year low
The price of gas in Massachusetts just dropped below $3.00 a gallon on average for the first time since 2021.
AAA Northeast reported Sunday that the average price of gas in Massachusetts just hit $2.99, four cents cheaper than a month ago.
The motor club said reduced winter demand has left plenty of supply on hand and pointed out that OPEC is scheduled to increase production in April.
“With prices hitting lows not seen in over three years, there’s never been a better time for drivers to shop around and give their business to retailers that offer the best prices,” said Mark Schieldrop, Senior Spokesperson, AAA Northeast. “Prices typically climb ahead of the summer driving season, so these sub $3 prices might not last very long before more expensive summer blend hits the pumps.”
