FOXBORO — Patriots starting left tackle Vederian Lowe left Sunday’s game against the Texans early in the second quarter with an ankle injury and was later ruled out.
Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Thursday that he felt strongly about the starting combination of Lowe at left tackle Demontrey Jacobs at right tackle. It lasted less than two weeks before Lowe suffered an injury.
Lowe allowed one pressure before leaving the game, per PFF’s in-game tracking.
Zachary Thomas, who was claimed off waivers from the Rams after cutdowns on Aug. 28, replaced Lowe at left tackle. Thomas has been used at guard and as a jumbo tight end since joining the Patriots.
The Patriots’ offensive line has been in constant flux since the start of training camp. They were starting their sixth combination in Sunday’s game with Ben Brown in at center despite joining the team on Thursday.
